The advent of the blogosphere may have occurred decades ago, but it’s still going strong. And thank goodness, because that means that baking anecdotes, tips, tricks, and gorgeous photos are just a mouse click away. Here are some of our favorite blogs that will inspire you in the kitchen and may even energize you enough to start your own online publication.
Joy the Baker. Joy has been at it for a while now. She’s a self-taught baker turned professional baker and cookbook author, and her longtime blog contains an absolute plethora of recipes. For cupcake aficionados, check out her Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Pineapple Cream Cheese Frosting or her Bonkers Awesome Candy Bar Cupcakes.
Bakerella. Ever wonder who came up with the idea for cupcake pops? Wonder no more. Angie, the author of bakerella.com, focuses on “fun and easy baking.” With a “Sweet Stuff” category (brownies, cakes, cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes, pie, and more), and gorgeous photos to boot, you can’t go wrong.
The Vanilla Bean. Minneapolis-based blogger Sarah is a self-taught baker whose site contains, as she puts it, “baking recipes, photographs of little hands and kitchen moments with friends and family, occasional musings and reflections, and some poetry and prose.” It’s the poetry found within her writing that has earned her awards and acclaim. Check out The Vanilla Bean Baking Book, as well.
Lovin’ from the Oven. This site contains so much more than dessert and baking recipes (Breakfast! Lunch! Dinner! Snacks!), but it’s things like “The Best Pumpkin Bread” and Apricot Coffee Cake that stand out to us. Real-life stories make you want to have a slice of either one with blogger and baker Kim.
